The ALRA TV department is suitably equipped for both in-studio and on-location filming.
The generously sized, sound proof, TV studio is equipped with lighting, camera dollies and a separate studio gantry. The gantry is fitted with an Edirol V4 Vision Mixer for dual camera real-time editing.
Our camera’s are supplied by SONY from their DVCAM series (PD-150’s and PD-170’s) whilst a variety of compatible audio equipment is also held on site. The equipment has been deliberately matched to allow students to experience the same quality of recording both in and out of the studio. This frees directors to experiment with an almost limitless range of sets and scenarios. Primarily our main goal is getting students in front of the camera but we also encourage them to learn about the equipment they are using often by operating cameras, boom mics and radio ear pieces.
An Apple Mac G5 with Final Cut Pro Studio is used for the on-site editing of short films and projects with a fully trained technician on hand for support to all staff and students.
