Miller Voice Work with Kristi Dana
The fundamental physical component taught in the Miller Voice Method, the ‘Active Breath,’ enhances the actor’s ability to remain present and communicate with transparency in order to keep an audience engaged. In this introductory workshop, Kristi Dana, Certified Miller Voice Method teacher, will share the core principles of the work, discuss the theory and science surrounding MVM’s ‘Active Breath’ and guide participants through exercises for physical embodiment and application to text. Bring your insatiable curiosity and get ready to have fun experimenting with flow under the “duress” of performance.

Kristi Dana
Kristi Dana is an Assistant Professor of Voice and Speech in the division of theatre at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Kristi has also taught at Yale University's Summer Conservatory for Actors, Brooklyn College, Penn State University, Long Island University/Post, the College of Staten Island, and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She is a Certified teacher of Miller Voice Method, and Knight-Thompson Speechwork, and holds a Certificate of Completion from the Michael Chekhov Association. Kristi has published in the Voice and Speech Review and presented her work at numerous conferences. Her professional vocal coaching includes Liz Lerman’s tour of Healing Wars and Marie Antoinette at Soho Rep, NYC. As an actor, Dallas credits include world premieres of Matthew Paul Olmos’ so go the ghosts of méxico, part three and Gordon Dahlquist’s Red Chariot at Undermain Theatre and Audrey Cefaly's Alabaster at Kitchen Dog Theater. Board Member, Voice and Speech Trainers Association (VASTA).
