This fun and physical workshop will then delve into how you can use your own practice to begin to shape the physical language of text. This approach on how to apply movement to text will be a practical workshop exploring how we can draw from the world of dance to shape actor movement. We will move, and we might even sweat! Always ‘seeing’ the text through the lens of movement director this workshop is suitable for movement directors, actors, teachers and directors.
Ingrid Mackinnon is a movement director, choreographer and rehearsal director. Her background is rooted in dance and she uses its methodology in her approach to actor movement. Investigating how the principles of dance techniques can be used and then reframed to help the actor understand their physical world as well as to build ensemble.
Ingrid is currently movement director on The Merchant of Venice for the Royal Shakespeare Company and she is also the co-founder of MoveSpace: www.movespace.org.uk .
