Head of Foundation (South)
ALRA are looking for a Head of Foundation (South) to join our small team, with world leading ambition. Very recent graduates have played leading roles in Hangmen (Broadway), The Jungle (Broadway), Bridgerton (Netflix), Coronation Street (ITV), I May Destroy You (BBC) and many other exciting and high-profile productions.
The role will have direct responsibility for the Foundation course, contributing to the artistic development of curriculum in collaboration with Deans, taking on the September 2020 cohort onwards, and share responsibility with the Foundation Course Leader in the opposite campuses for staffing, discipline, pastoral support and administering the curriculum. Teaching hours will be set at 18 to 21 hours per week and can contribute to any aspect of the delivery. The Foundation role will be offered between 28k and 30K on a full-time basis only and is dependent on experience and qualifications.
ALRA has an ambition to increase the representation of our talented and ambitious faculty by encouraging applications from candidates from a range of ethnicities, sexualities, faiths, genders and bodies. As an institution we are committed to providing our students with teaching-artists they can aspire to from the many intersections of our society.
ALRA’s training focuses on finding the best way for the student to learn, we offer many ways into the process of acting, and have a particular bias towards the imagination, poetic activity and allowing the individuality of our learners to continually teach us, as a faculty, how to work. Drawing the best ideas and methods from traditional western trainings, whilst rejecting their ideals around a ‘way’ of acting, ALRA constantly reviews biases and recognises that this is an opportunity to work with people that have the experience and passion to contribute to our artistic vision, bringing authentic knowledge and insight.
Deadline for Head of Foundation South: Monday 24th August at 12pm
Interviews: 2nd September 2020
The candidates will be expected to start on the 14th September 2020 and will have a 6-month probation period.
