ALRA is seeking an experienced set and costume designer. This is a fulltime post with a salary intro £24-26K to start in January 2019. Working at our Wandsworth campus you will be responsible for the design and delivery of all ALRA main house shows.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Designer in Residence Reports to: Head of Productions
Locations: London Direct Reports: NA
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver the set and costume designs for ALRA productions
  • Attend all design and production meetings
  • Ensure all elements of the production design are delivered to a high professional standard
  • Work to design and production budgets as allocated by the Head of Productions
  • Assist the stage management team in prop making
  • Mentor SMTT students in second year design roles
  • Support the acting and technical students during the delivery of the productions and where requested throughout their course
  • Ensure the wardrobe store is tidy and organized and equipment maintained
  • Monitor and ensure all course relevant equipment is of industry standard
  • To administer the health and safety policy as it relates to the productions and tours
  • Be responsible for the safe working practice of the students and the safe use of equipment, ensuring that all codes of practice and current regulations are adhered to
  • Adhere to ALRA’s Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety policies, in respect of all staff students and visiting members of the public
  • Maintain awareness of current developments and to recommend change where appropriate
  • Ensure good working relationships and co-operation with all departments of the school
Other
  • Attend ALRA meetings as outlined in ALRA’s meeting structured
  • To undertake other duties as may reasonably be required by the Head of Productions
