Head of Foundation

Salary: £10/12,5K (.5 fte based on £20,000 to £25,000 ft)

The Head of Foundation will join ALRA North’s faculty in delivering and developing our successful foundation programme which focuses on training students for entry to acting conservatoires. The position will be offered on a 0.5 role requiring attendance on site for 20 hours per week in term time. Tutors may be expected to deliver on the BA and MA programmes at ALRA North and we welcome applications from any acting discipline. The start date will be 1st September 2019.

Job Title: Head of Foundation, North Reports to: Dean
Locations: Wigan Direct Reports: Free lance staff
Department: Curriculum Hours: 1 hour remission for Lead/Head
Key Responsibilities - Coordinator of Foundation courses
  • Maintain and develop the Foundation programmes liaising with the Head of Foundation, South
  • Teaching or facilitating teaching on the programmes
  • Recruitment of all additional tutors for the course in consultation with the Dean
  • The organisation and monitoring of assessment procedures
  • Working within the agreed annual programme budget
  • Recruitment of students for the programme in consultation with the Dean
  • Conducting individual tutorials & Careers guidance
  • Attend all appropriate meetings including staff and development meetings.
  • Oversee the quality assurance of the Foundation Course in terms of teaching delivery & information
  • To teach 12 hours of curriculum across the BA, MA and Foundation Acting Courses.
  • To attend all in-house CPD and meetings in line with ALRA’s Curriculum Development
  • Monitor and ensure all course relevant equipment is of industry standard
  • Adhere to ALRA’s Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety policies, in respect of all staff, students and visiting members of the public
  • Carry out other duties as may be reasonably directed by the Principal
