This month's alumni update highlights stories from Nicole Bartlett, Emma Beattie, Evelyn Roberts, Matt Holt, Louis Bernard and Kelly Blackburn.

Nicole Bartlett stars as lead in Dial M for Murder

Nicole Bartlett, who graduated from our BA in Acting course last year, will be starring as glamorous socialite Sheila Wendice in the New Vic Theatre Production, Dial M for Murder.

The play revolves around Nicole's character, Sheila, who leads an exciting lifestyle until she suddenly ends up having to fight for her life. According to the organisers, the production is a masterpiece of writing that is simply teeming with "twists, turns and suspense" and is sure to keep audiences at the edge of their seats.

Dial M for Murder will be running at the New Vic from Friday 28th April - Saturday 20th May 2017.

Emma Beattie features in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

Emma BeattieALRA's BA in Acting 1999 graduate Emma Beattie is featuring as Judy in the UK tour of the acclaimed National Theatre production, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

The play, a multi-Tony and Olivier Award winning adaptation of the original novel by Mark Haddon, tells the story of a gifted boy with 'behavioural problems' and has been praised by The Evening Standard as a "beautiful, dazzlingly inventive show about the wonders of life".

In a recent interview, Emma commented:

"[The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is] a fantastic play, it really is. I've seen a few different productions of it in recent years, in England and in Belfast, and it's really made for the big stage. I can't wait to bring it to new Northern Irish audiences". 

Evelyn Roberts and Matt Holt win 'Best Fringe Production'

2014 Postgraduate Acting alumni Evelyn Roberts and Matt Holt won the category for 'Best Fringe Production' at the Manchester Theatre Awards for their adaptation of The Trial in a ceremony that took place on March 17th 2017.

The Trial is an adaptation of Franz Kafka's iconic novel, Der Prozess, adapted for stage by both Evelyn and Matt. If you would like to find out more about this production, visit the People Zoo website.

Louis Bernard features in Radieuse Vermine

Louis BernardLouis Bernard, who is also one of ALRA's 2014 Postgraduate Acting course graduates, is currently involved in Radieuse Vermine, the French adaption of Philip Ridley's 2015 black comedy, Radiant Vermin.

The play previewed at Leicester Square Theatre on 28th and 29th April, ahead of its run at the French Fringe Festival in Avignon later in the summer.

Louis will be appearing as a cast member and was also one of the translators for the production.

Kelly Blackburn in Ellie's Extraordinary Adventure

Kelly Blackburn2016 graduate of ALRA's BA in Acting course Kelly Blackburn starred as Ellie in the touring production Ellie's Extraordinary Adventure earlier in April as part of The Storytelling Festival, a fortnight filled with performances, workshops and activities for audiences and writers.

The production, which tells the story of Ellie's epic quest inside a book, ran at various libraries throughout Eastleigh and Southampton from 10th to 20th April.
