The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (ALRA) is an Alternative Provider delivering Acting Conservatoire training across sites in London and the North West. We are seeking applicants for a new position of Director of Admissions to manage our Admission team, continue the development of our bespoke audition and application management system and help deliver ALRA’s recruitment strategy.

Applicants should have experience of working with HESA and UKVI, with experience completing HESA AP Student return desirable. Full requirements can be found in the person specification.

This is a permanent full time position based in our London offices on Wandsworth Common paying between £30,000 and £35,000 depending on experience. Job Title: Director of Admissions Reports to: Director of Academic Services

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage and develop ALRA’s admission process
  • To be responsible for the accuracy, transparency and equity of the admission process
  • To be responsible for the submission of ALRA’s Student Record (AP) to HESA
  • To ensure the admission processes are fully complaint with regulatory requirements, including HESA, QAA and UKVI
  • To communicate and administer the DaDA offers system as required.
  • To work with the Head of Marketing and Director of Academic Services to develop targets and processes for effective student recruitment.
  • To oversee the relevant documentation and contracts sent to new pupils and to prepare induction materials as required.
  • To provide strategic analysis of the marketplace as well as collecting and analysing admissions data, to inform the school’s strategic direction.
  • To oversee a comprehensive enquiries database/records system from initial application through to offer and acceptance and registration with validating organisations.
  • To undertake analysis of applications and supply a registrars report including diversity and comparative applications statistics.
  • To manage the DaDA scholarship & bursary processes for new and existing students, assisting the Principal and in liaison with the Finance department.
  • To work with our 3rdparty software developers to continue to refine our bespoke auditions administration system
  • To represent the school at a range of external events to help build relationships. These may be during the evening/ at weekends.
  • Occasional travel between sites.
  • Other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.

Evidence of further relevant training or continuing professional development




Experience of working in an Admissions/registry in a UK Higher Education Institution

Experience of managing a student records database

Knowledge of the requirements of HESA, QAA and UKVI on UK Higher Education Institutions

Experience Using HEIDI plus

Experience working with Student Finance England

Basic knowledge of appropriate legal aspects – including, data protection, freedom of information.

Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with challenging situations and relationships with key stakeholders

Excellent communication, verbal and written, skills

Ability to summarise and present information in a relevant way to different audiences

A proactive approach with the ability to generate new ideas
