The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (ALRA) is an Alternative Provider delivering Acting Conservatoire training across sites in London and the North West. We are seeking applicants for a new position of IT & Applications Manager to manage our IT systems team, continue the development of our bespoke audition and application management system and help develop deliver ALRA’s IT strategy

Applicants should have experience in the field of computer science or software engineering and\or equivalent experience in business systems management and support. Full requirements can be found in the person specification.

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Title: IT & Applications Manager Reports to: Vice Principal (Operations)
Locations: London or Wigan Based with some travel between sites Direct Reports: All Programme Leaders
Department: Operations Hours of work: 20 hours per week
Key Responsibilities Salary: £15k (£30k fte)
  • To assist the Acting for Camera Tutor, where required, in all of ALRA’s media productions. Such duties may include (but not exclusively): production coordinating, equipment checks, and setting up AV equipment, ensuring AV equipment is in place on time.
  • To assist the Acting for Camera Tutor, where required, in the production of all Acting Course Radio and TV Projects including editing and final output, be familiar with non-linear editing systems, contributing towards the ALRA archive, familiar with compression for storage and transfer.
  • To liaise with staff in ALRA North, working in a collaborative way ensuring working practices are mirrored at both North and South campuses.
  • To assist where appropriate in the training of ALRA staff and students in the available equipment during classes.
  • Booking in and out of AV equipment for student use.
  • To ensure any damage to the equipment and/or studio is reported to the Facilities Manager & Head of Film in a timely fashion, minimising any disruption to teaching/ project work.
  • Ensuring that Assessments are recorded and archived online.
  • Keeping all recorded media areas clean and tidy and adhere to the Health and Safety of the spaces.
  • To ensure related consumables are well stocked and replenished regularly. Keep up to date records of storage drives and related media, maintain the AV store, ensuring it is kept tidy and kits are packed and kept in a satisfactory way.
  • To follow working procedures as laid down by Health & Safety and Fault Reporting Procedures.
  • To undertake any hire or returns for films.
  • To work with Senior Management to implement the company's policies and goals.
  • To ensure technical equipment for ALRA classes is set up, tested and working as required.
  • To ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed.

  • To undertake other duties as may reasonably be required by the Head of Recorded Media.

Qualifications

  • University degree or equivalent experience in the field of computer science or software engineering and\or equivalent experience in business systems management and support.
  • ITIL Service Management Foundation Level

Knowledge/

Experience

  • Proven experience in applications integration and data virtualisation techniques including abstraction, transformation, data manipulation and processing and associated technologies.
  • Proven experience in IT service management and application delivery.
  • Proven experience in database design, queries and stored procedures.
  • Proven experience in business analysis and systems analysis and documenting business processes.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices for e-mail privacy and regulatory compliance, routing, filtering, monitoring, tiered storage, backup, and disaster recovery.
  • Expert with 365 office applications and experience with data integration and VLE construction.
  • Basic Financial Understanding.
  • Experience of working in education
  • Good Knowledge of IT Governance Frameworks
  • Practical experience of implementation of complex IT systems
  • Experience of delivering projects involving change management in an organisation
